What we do

Practical consulting that strengthens coverage and operations

JCL Aviation Services provides aviation risk management and consulting services to align your policies, contracts, and day-to-day practices. We help aircraft owners, corporate flight departments, airports and FBOs, flight schools, and manufacturers translate operations into underwriter-ready narratives. Our consulting supports consistent decisions that can improve terms, reduce friction, and speed claims.

Program design & underwriting strategy

Build an insurance program that aligns with your operations

Designing a program to meet your needs starts with education and risk assessment.  For flight departments, we consider type of aircraft, pilot experience, use, operational area, etc. to outline insurance terms. For airports, FBOs, and MROs, we review operational scope, product/service criticality, contract requirements to structure a program and coordinate aviation general liability coverages with property, airside auto, pollutions coverages so claims route cleanly. With manufacturers we consider the products being produced, how they are used, the sector of the industry utilizing the products, volume of sales, quality control and so forth to create coverage specifications and to make limit recommendations.  Underwriters are approached with detailed submissions for best results.

Contract & compliance support

Lease language, certificates, and day-to-day documentation

We review various contracts such as aircraft & hangar lease agreements, vendor, charter & customer contracts, finance agreements and aircraft purchase/sales agreements from an insurance and indemnification perspective. We analyze insurance requirements such as additional insured, primary & noncontributory, waiver, breach of warranty, coverage and limits.  We help determine if requirements fit the type of operation and are in line with industry standards.   Our team ensures certificates match insurance requirements and are issued in a timely manner.

Training, SMS, and operations alignment

Turn good habits into underwriting strength

We highlight strengths and best practices when representing you in the aviation insurance market for optimal results.  In addition to required training, what additional educational/safety programs do pilots, aircraft mechanics, and ground crew personnel take advantage of?  Has your operation received a gold or platinum safety rating from a 3rd party consulting firm.  What industry organizations are your company members of? NBAA, VAI, AOPA?  Has your company obtained any special certificates such as IS-BAO?

Property, business interruption, and catastrophe prep

Stronger valuations and recovery playbooks

We review hangar and equipment values, confirm deductible strategy, and outline business interruption and extra expense options before a storm or winter event occurs. Coverage terms such as aircraft relocation expense triggered by a hurricane or typhoon are also outlined.  Geographical locations and areas of options are considered when designing insurance programs and offering optional coverages such as flood insurance.

Claims readiness & advocacy

Clear steps when something goes wrong

We are here to help guide and support your team throughout the claim process.  No matter when an incident is reported, we are ready to assist. Depending on the situation, this could mean helping determine if a claim should be submitted and to which insurance companies.  Once a client decides to move forward with a claim, we provide contact information, help with initial reports, outline the type of information various carriers will need to process the claims, etc.  We are here to help facilitate the claim process, so claims are settled in a timely manner and with the client's interests in mind.  Our goal is to help you return to normal operations with minimal disruption.

FAQs: Risk Management & Consulting

Answering common questions from aviation teams

  • How does consulting change my insurance outcome?

Underwriters price risk based on evidence. When training, maintenance, and contracts are documented clearly, submissions are easier to price and can earn better terms. We package your story so carriers see discipline instead of uncertainty.

  • Can JCL work with our existing policies and brokers?

Yes, we can provide a standalone consulting review or manage the entire program. We identify gaps, overlaps, and operational issues that can affect claim settlements. You choose the level of involvement that fits your team.

  • Do you offer on-site visits?

Yes, we visit facilities nationawide by appointment.  Meeting with clients to discuss and assess risk in person is a great way to better understand and analysis risk for better outcomes.

  • How do you help with international trips and certificates?

We work with aircraft handlers and aviation insurers to determine regional requirement.  Coverages are amended as needed and certificates are issued promptly so travel is not delayed.

  • What will we receive after a gap analysis?

A memo outlining & prioritizing findings and offering recommendations for program improvement, which includes implementation plan for optimal results.
