Protect people, premises, and operations

Liability coverage for aviation operations on the ground

Aviation General Liability addresses third-party injuries and property damage linked to your aviation premises and operations, from hangars and terminals to ramp activities. Standard commercial policies often exclude aviation exposures, so airports, FBOs, MROs, flight schools, and charter companies need aviation-specific forms. JCL Aviation Services structures AGL programs for businesses throughout the United States.

What an AGL policy can include

Premises, Operations, and Hangarkeepers liability

Premises liability responds to slips, falls, and property damage in your hangar or terminal. Operations liability addresses incidents tied to ground handling such as towing or refueling, and products-completed operations liability can respond to work performed by your shop. Hangarkeepers' liability protects aircraft in your care, custody, or control, which is essential for FBOs and maintenance providers.

Who needs aviation General Liability

Airports, FBOs, flight schools, and charter operations

Municipal and private airports, FBOs, MRO's, and flight schools all face on-the-ground risks that require aviation-specific liability. Many airport authorities require minimum limits and additional insured status, and some leases specify hangarkeeper requirements. JCL Aviation Services helps you comply with local requirements no matter where you are based.

How JCL Aviation Services helps

Right limits, right endorsements, and coordinated policies

We evaluate visitor volume, aircraft mix, and typical aircraft values to recommend credible liability and hangarkeeper limits. Our team coordinates AGL coverages with other policies such as property, workers comp, and commercial auto so coverages work together without gaps. JCL Aviation Services explains how coverage would apply to an event like a fuel spill or what is covered under personal & advertising injury so you understand what is included under your policy.

Questions aviation businesses ask

Clear guidance for airport and FBO risk

  • How much aviation GL should our operation carry?

Limits vary with your traffic, aircraft values, and lease obligations. Smaller FBOs may carry a few million, while large facilities often maintain significantly higher limits. We benchmark peers and contracts to set an appropriate target.

  • Is hangarkeepers liability included automatically?

Hangarkeepers coverage is not always automatically included.  It protects aircraft in your care, which standard premises coverage does not. We obtain options that match your exposure and budget.

  • Do we need a separate AGL policy, if we have an aircraft hull & liability policy?

It depends on your operation.  If you simply rent hangar space for your aircraft, you may not need seperat GL coverage.  However, if you operate a flight school, you will need a serpate GL policy to cover ground operations.  JCL helps analyse risk and recommend coverage.

  • What documents do airports typically require?

Most ask for certificates of insurance, additional insured wording, and waiver of subrogation in some cases. Some also specify minimum limits and notice of cancellation requirements. We prepare compliant certificates in a timely manner.

  • Can one policy cover multiple locations?

Many aviation GL policies can schedule multiple premises and operations. We confirm each site's exposures and align limits and endorsements accordingly. Centralized administration helps avoid missed certificates and gaps in coverage.
